2011年、ヨーロピアン・セラミック・ワーク・センターに滞在中、本原の耳から型取りをして制作した耳を壁に展示した。ヘッドフォンでは、本原がオランダに滞在制作中、聴いていた日常の音を流した。
・来場者は壁の耳と向かい合ってソファーに座り、目を閉じる。
・周囲の音に耳を澄ます。
＊50名の来場者が目を閉じていた時間は、ひとり平均 “5分50秒12”でした。

目を閉じて、何も考えずに音に耳をすます。
いつも壁が聴いている音。

“音”に耳を澄ますと、普段の雑音が主役になる。
時計の音。
換気扇の音。
本をめくるパラリ、の音。
ドアを開ける音。
ドアの向こうで階段を駆け上がる足音。
話し声。
そして、自分の鼓動まで聞こえてきたから目を開けたら…
目を閉じていた時間は5分とちょっと。

【来場者の感想】
“音”だけ聴いてると、その音の先のストーリーを勝手に想像して、ちょっと別の空間にいける気がした。

ear

During my residency at the European Ceramic Work Center in 2011, I made an ear from a cast of my own ear and hung it on a white wall. The wall became a body.

 I put a sofa in front of it so people could sit. I had them close their eyes and listen to what the wall usually hears: sounds of cars driving by, water draining through the pipe behind the wall, people walking in a hallway, the room ventilator… We don’t pay attention to these sounds even though they’re always there.

The bone-china ear was made life-sized and hung at my height. The work acted as a catalyst for viewers to realize something they don’t usually care about.

*The exhibit’s 50 visitors were able to close their eyes for an average of 5 minutes and 50.12 seconds per person.
